LOPS
Leistungsgruppen- & OPS-Strukturprüfung
LOPS is the unified audit procedure run by the Medical Service (Medizinischer Dienst / MD) to verify that hospitals meet the defined quality and structural requirements for every service group (Leistungsgruppe).
KHVVG
Krankenhausversorgungs-verbesserungsgesetz
The German Hospital Care Improvement Act, in force since December 2024. Together with the LOPS directive, it redefines quality and structural requirements for hospitals. Implementation by the federal states runs until 30 September 2027.
OPS
Operationen- und Prozedurenschlüssel
The OPS classification defines the structural criteria a hospital must meet to be allowed to bill for specific medical procedures. It is updated annually by the BfArM (the German Federal Institute for Drugs and Medical Devices).
